Former Brooklyn and Staten Island prosecutor. Now a Brooklyn criminal defense lawyer fighting for the accused.

Amel Spahija brings years of experience as a former prosecutor and trusted legal advocate, offering clients a powerful combination of legal insight and relentless defense. Before founding Spahija Law, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in two New York City District Attorney's Offices: Kings County (Brooklyn) and Richmond County (Staten Island).
As a prosecutor, Amel led and participated in long term investigations into violent crimes, firearms cases, narcotics matters, and criminal organizations. He drafted and executed search warrants, presented cases to grand juries, made charging decisions, litigated suppression hearings, and tried cases in New York State Supreme Court and New York City Criminal Court. He also trained and supervised misdemeanor level prosecutors.
That experience now works for the defense. When Amel reviews your case, part of him will always see it the way an Assistant District Attorney would: where the evidence is strong, where it is weak, and what would worry the prosecution most. Then the defense gets built around exactly those pressure points. Read his full breakdown of the former prosecutor advantage.
